Center in Norwalk

Groundbreaking for The Surgery Center of North Central Ohio took place Oct. 7 at the site of the future surgery center on U.S. 250 adjacent to Fisher-Titus Convenient Care in Norwalk.

Fisher-Titus and certain surgeons from Bay Area Digestive Health, NOMS Access Orthopaedics and NOMS Ear, Nose & Throat, Northern Ohio Foot and Ankle Specialists, and North Central Eye Associates, along with Health Care Facilities Partners, announced in August that they have entered into a joint business venture to plan, construct and open an ambulatory surgery center, according to a news release.

“Fisher-Titus is pleased to be a partner in this project that will provide our patients affordable care options close to home,” said Dr. Brent Burkey, president, and CEO of Fisher-Titus. “This project is just one example of Fisher-Titus and our collaborative partners being proactive in exploring new opportunities to remain successful independent providers of health care for our community.”

The new facility will offer over 12,000 square feet of medical space, including pre- and post-surgical areas, three operating rooms, and a procedure room.

Perspectus (Cleveland) is the architect for this project, with Janotta & Herner (Monroeville) acting as a general contractor.

Construction on the $5.8 million facilities is scheduled to begin this fall with a planned opening in late 2020.

Fisher-Titus and its regional collaborative partners will have joint ownership in The Surgery Center, daily management and operations of the center will be under the direction of Health Care Facilities Partners, the news release said.

Health Care Facilities Partners is known for operational excellence of ambulatory surgical centers and successfully manages surgery centers throughout the United States.

Fisher-Titus will continue to offer emergency and elective surgical offerings and procedures at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
